A HEALING AT LOURDES

When Jesus walked the earth, His word alone, and sometimes even a glance, was enough to heal the sick and raise the dead.

The consecrated Host, in which He remains hidden, has the same power, when He so wills.

A remarkable case is reported by the renowned physician Dr. Boissarie in his account of the miracles at Lourdes.

Marguerite de Savoie arrived at the grotto in a pitiable state: paralyzed, placed in a coffin as if she were a corpse, pale, voiceless, emaciated; although she was 25 years old, she weighed only 16 kilograms.

When she left for Lourdes, doctors had told her she had no more than 15 days to live; and those at the grotto did not dare to touch her, for she could barely breathe. They did not even attempt to take her to the baths but were content to place her before the Virgin.

As the Blessed Sacrament passed by, a strong and irresistible force threw her from her stretcher. When Marguerite realized she was kneeling beside her bed, she rose by herself, without anyone’s help, and cried out with all her strength:

— I am healed!

Her astonished mother ran to her, and she embraced her, saying in a strong voice:

— Mother, I am healed!

That same day — writes Dr. Boissarie — she entered our office, standing firmly on her own feet, though still weakened. Her joy was so great that she did not even feel her weakness.

We said she weighed 16 kilograms; a few days after her cure, she already weighed 44. Her growth resumed its natural course, and her height increased by seven to eight centimeters — at the age of 25!

Here we are not dealing merely with a healing, but with a resurrection. The power of the God of the Eucharist accomplished this miracle.
