CRUSADE AND SACRIFICE

The Eucharistic Crusade aims not only to foster devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, but also zeal and a spirit of sacrifice.

At a congress of little Crusaders, a peasant boy appeared, well dressed and very neat, at the head of a veritable battalion of Crusaders.

“Hello! What is this?” asked the leader. “How did you manage to organize in your village such a fine group of boys?”

The little boy, embarrassed, kept turning his cap, not knowing how to answer.

“Tell me, how did you begin?”
“I asked them if they wanted to be Crusaders.”
“And what did they answer?”
“That they did not want to.”
“And what did you do then?”
“I began to receive Holy Communion for them.”
“And did they want to then?”
“No, sir.”
“And what did you do after that?”
“At Communion, the Child Jesus inspired me to make sacrifices…”
“And did they want to then?”
“Then, yes.”
