God is more pleased with one work, however small, done in secret and without the desire that it be known, than with a thousand done with the wish that men should know of them. For he who works for God with the purest love not only does not care whether men see it, but he does not even perform the works so that God Himself may know them. And even if God were never to know of them, he would not cease to render Him the same services, and this with the same joy and purity of love.
